병주고 약준다. 이번엔 애플 아이패드(iPad)가 좋은 이유

기즈모도가 공개한 ‘애플 아이패드(iPad)가 No Thanks인 이유 11가지’를 dtalker를 통해 포스팅 했습니다.

그런데 병주고 약주고 인가요? 이번에는 애플 태블릿 PC의 장점에 대해 쭈욱 늘어놨습니다. 한번 살펴보겠습니다.

1. It's substantial but surprisingly light. Easy to grip. Beautiful. Rigid. Starkly designed. The glass is a little rubbery but it could be my sweaty hands. And it's fasssstttt.

- 놀랄만큼 가볍고 그립하기 쉽고, 아름답고, 견고하다. 디자인 좋다. 디스플레이는 약간 고무느낌도 들지만 정말 빠르다.

2. Apple didn't really sell this point, but it's the single biggest benefit of the iPad: speed. It feels at least a generation faster than the iPhone 3GS. Lags and waits are gone, and the OS and apps respond just as quickly as you'd hope. Rotating between portrait and landscape modes, especially, is where this new horsepower manifests in the OS.

- 애플은 강조하지 않았지만 속도는 아이패드가 지닌 가장 큰 장점이다. iPhone 3GS보다 더 빠르게 느껴진다. 당신의 생각대로 OS와 App이 빠르게 실행된다. portrait and landscape 모드도 빠르게 변환된다. 새로운 마력(?)을 달아놓은듯 하다.

3. Imagine, if you will, a super light unibody MacBook Pro that's smaller, thinner and way, way, way lighter. Or, from a slightly different perspective, think about a bigger iPhone that's been built with unibody construction. The iPad really does feel like some amalgamation of these two product lines from Apple. And, in the hands, it feels great—not too heavy at all.

The screen looked nice, and it's able to display even small text crisply. Touch responds like a dream.

But one point of the build seems odd. It's the Home button. In portrait mode, hitting the Home button is far less natural than on an iPhone because your thumbs naturally rest in the middle of each side of the case (not the bottom). A Kindle-like side Home button may not have been a horrible idea, even if it broke up the stoic minimalism of the case a bit.

- 유니바디 맥북 프로보다 더 작고 더 얇고 더더더 가볍다. 큰 아이폰의 느낌도 들며 손에 닿는 느낌이 너무 좋다. 크게 무겁다는 느낌은 없다.

화면은 보기 좋다. 작은 글씨도 선명하게 볼수 있다. 터치 반응성은 꿈같다.(매우 훌륭하다는 표현인듯)

그러나 홈버튼이 약간 애매하다. 세로 모드 사용시 홈버튼이 아래쪽에 위치하게 되는데 이때 손의 위치는 옆면을 잡고 있기 때문에 누르기가 번거롭다.

4. It's an optical illusion, but just seeing the depth of pages makes the iBook app feel more like a book than a Kindle ever did for me. The text is sharp, and while the screen is bright, it doesn't seem to strains the eyes—but time will tell on that.

- 환상적이다. 킨들보다 더 책 같은 느낌이 든다. 텍스트가 선명하다. 눈에 피로는 없다. 그러나 시간이 지나면 어떨지는 모를 듯 하다.

5. Typing in portrait is better than anticipated but still quite a stretch for our average-sized hands, which means that letters like F G and H will take a moderate conditioning for some. What about in landscape mode, sitting flat on the table? Well this is problematic too, as the iPad sort of wobbles. The back is not perfectly flat, meaning your typing surface is never perfectly flat, so the virtual keyboard becomes that much more difficult to use.

- 세로모드로 타이핑 하는 것이 꽤 괜찮았다. 가로모드 사용시 평균 사이즈 보다 작다면 F, G, H 누르는데 번거로울 듯 하다.(맞나?) 바닥에 놓고 사용하고자 할 때 아이패드 뒷면 디자인으로 인해 흔들거린다. 사용하기 어렵다.

6. Pinch, zoom, whatever—like we said, it's fast—the photo app is faster than iPhoto performs on an aging Core2Duo laptop.

- 확대, 축소가 매우 빠르다. 사진기능은 iPhoto을 코어2듀어 랩탑에 돌리는 것보다 빠르다.

7. Apps can play in their native resolution, or be 2x uprezzed for the screen. How does it look? An ATV game we tried actually looked pretty good—limited more by its base polygon count than the scaling process itself. Bottom line: it's about as elegant solution as Apple could have offered, even if that graphics won't be razor sharp.

- App는 아이폰에서 제공하는 해상도로 이용할 수 있으며 2배 이상 업스케일링도 가능하다. 아이패드 기본 해상도에 맞춘 해상도의 어플은 아니지만 업스케일링으로 확대한 것이 어색하지 않다. 아이패드용 App이 나올것이다.

8. Over Wi-Fi, Gizmodo loaded quickly. The 9.7-inch screen is an excellent size for reading the site. You can pinch zoom, but you won't need to. Of course, on such a pretty web browsing experience, not having Flash makes the big, empty video boxes in the middle of a page is pretty disappointing. Put differently, the fatal flaw of Apple's mobile browser has never been more apparent.

- WIFI를 통한 기즈모도 로딩은 빠랐다. 9.7인치 스크린 사이즈는 사이트를 일기 위해 좋은 크기이다. Pinch zoom 을 할수 있지만 필요하지 않을 듯 하다. 웹브라우저를 이용하는데 플래시를 지원하지 않아 빈 박스를 보는 것은 아쉽다. 하지만 플래시를 지원하지 않는다고 실제 사용시 큰 불편은 없지 않았는가?
